Many instrumental programmes just focus on memorising a set amount of pieces. Our focus is that students should learn to read and write music along with their playing. Once students can read music they become independent learners and can begin to accelerate their fun and learning.

ASME (Australian Society of Music Educators) Membership

Keyed Up Music is a full teaching member of ASME (Australian Society of Music Educators). All of our teachers either currently studying music at an Australian University or Conservatorium or have already completed their tertiary musical studies, you can rest assured that your child is receiving the best possible instrumental education.

Outstanding music programmes for schools

Keyed Up Music can provide a comprehensive classroom music programme which is well-rounded, dynamic and fun. The cost is a little more than would be to employ a classroom music teacher and we provide a great programme, ongoing support (including liturgical if needed), an instrumental and band programme and ongoing teacher training from our Director of music! All our teachers are qualified music educators. The cost can be paid up front by the school, or shared as a student levy.

Keyed Up Music Contributes financially to your school

Keyed Up Music recognises that running a Primary school is not easy nor is it cheap and so for every student that Keyed Up Music teaches in our instrumental program we will contribute $0.50 per child per lesson back to the school.

We schedule our lessons to suit the needs of the students and school

Keyed Up Music runs its music programmes during and after school and can schedule its teachers to come and take lessons on a day and time most convenient for the school. A Keyed Up Music programme also offers the opportunity for your school to begin a band or choral programme under the direction of a keyed up music teacher. We will also organise a school music concert at the end of every year.

My children look forward to their keyboard lessons every week - they even fight each other over who goes first at practice time! They enjoy being in a class with their friends and as a parent I love watching them learn whilst having fun. The convenience of having lessons at their school is also a huge bonus.

One of the major questions parents ask when choosing to play or buy a musical instrument is; “What if my child does not want to play this instrument in 6 months time?” Start up costs in learning a musical instrument can be significant so to help ease the financial burden, Keyed up music has come up with some very cheap ways to get started. ‘Hire to have’ is Keyed Up Music’s programme to get students playing musical instruments at a really small price with the option of buying the instrument after 18 months (or sooner) of use.You can also hire the instrament for one term if you like and if your child decides to stop only after a few weeks, then as soon you return the instrment we will refund you the amount of weeks left in the school term.If you would like to hire a guitar or pianoBelow is a link to our rental agreement, please fill this out and email it to therese@keyedupmusic.com.aurentalagreement.pdf
All Keyed Up Teachers must have; a) A Working with Children Check ; b) A recognised degree (or completing a recognised degree) from an approved University or Conservatorium of music and/or equivalent experience as a professional musician and music teacher; c) An enthusiasm about sharing music with their students and d) Be punctual, reliable and well presented.
Most of our students are from the particular primary school where the lessons are taking place.  But many schools are happy to have outside students join in lessons if they are after school.To find out if a particular school does accept outside students feel free to contact us or check our locations page.
